Renewable UK sector groups

Get involved - Be part of the converstaion

Renewable UK groups will give you access to resources, advice and guidance, as well as the opportunity to network, mentor and support other like minded individuals working in your sector.

Offshore wind hub

The UK is a recognised world leader in offshore wind, with more projects than any other nation. This means that the UK has led the world in cost reduction and innovation offshore, and the benefits of offshore wind are clear to see in communities around our coastline. Offshore wind is developed through separate Development Rounds led by The Crown Estate.

To find out more the UK’s individual offshore wind farms search our projects database. To find out how offshore wind works, take a look at our Haynes Owners Workshop Manual for Offshore Wind.

Members of RenewableUK benefit from our Project Intelligence database, which provides timely and commercially relevant information on all aspects of offshore wind investment and deployment.

Onshore wind hub

Onshore wind energy has established itself as a mature, clean and productive technology. It is now the UK’s largest source of renewable energy generation. Onshore wind farms reduce CO2 emissions, provide energy security, and contribute to the local and national economy.

Onshore wind works well in the UK because of our excellent wind resource, and it has become one of the most cost effective forms of renewable energy.

Wave and tidal hub

The Government estimates that wave & tidal stream energy combined has the potential to deliver around 20% of the UK’s current electricity needs which equates to an installed capacity of around 30 – 50GW.

RenewableUK and our members have worked together to develop the Ocean Energy Race campaign. This seeks to strengthen political support for developing wave and tidal energy in the UK.

RenewableUK Drones Guidance Workgroup

RenewableUK’s Drones Guidance Workgroup is responsible for producing a high-level industry guidance document (onshore and offshore) to plan for and address both strategic and operational UAV issues.

Aviation hub - Approved members only

RenewableUK collaborates with aviation authorities and government to find solutions to radar interference or flight obstruction caused by wind energy developments.

The Aviation Management Board chaired by the Department for Business, Energy, Industry and Skills includes representatives from RenewableUK, and meets regularly to address wider issues. The Aviation Working Group is one of RenewableUK's closed working groups, accessible to signed-in and approved members only.
