Equinor’s Stephen Bull and National Grid’s Roisin Quinn elected as Chair and Vice Chair to lead industry body’s work building the energy system of the future
The RenewableUK Board has elected Stephen Bull as its new Chair and Roisin Quinn as its Vice Chair. The Board met on the 12th of June to confirm these officer positions, following the election of new Board members in May. Stephen Bull was formally Vice Chair, and replaces Julian Brown who stood down as Chair after six years as a Board member at the trade body.
Hugh McNeal, Chief Executive of RenewableUK said: “I am looking forward to working with Stephen, Roisin and the rest of the Board in driving the innovative companies we represent forward. Having two individuals who are working at the heart of our changing energy market is great news for RenewableUK and our industry. On behalf of everyone at RenewableUK I also want to thank Julian Brown who has done an excellent job as Chair and I wish him every success.”
Stephen Bull, Senior Vice President (Wind and Carbon Capture and Storage) at Equinor, said: “I am delighted to be elected Chair of RenewableUK. The renewables sector has entered the mainstream. RenewableUK’s members secure significant infrastructure investments in the UK, as well as developing exciting technological and economic opportunities in the ongoing energy transition. As a Board, we have an important role to play here to maintain the trade association’s status as a highly respected industry voice.”
Roisin Quinn, Head of Energy Strategy and Policy at National Grid said: “I am looking forward to supporting RenewableUK in its work helping its members to build our future energy system. We have a diverse, forward-looking and commercial Board overseeing further deployment of renewables in the UK and ensuring that our members win business at home and abroad.”
Julian Brown, who now stands down as Chair of RenewableUK, said: “I would like to congratulate Stephen and Ro on their election. I have enjoyed working closely with them on the Board and they are great choices to lead RenewableUK and represent its membership. My six years on the Board have been greatly rewarding and it is good to leave it in such a confident position with clear direction and real drive. In the meantime I look forward to developing my work in a Non-Executive capacity in the wind industry with RenewableUK members Tekmar plc and 3Sun Group.”
