The world’s offshore wind industry wants to meet the workforce of the future
The Ørsted Skills Hub is a free-to-attend event for students looking at careers in offshore wind on Weds 20th June at Manchester Central.
The UK’s offshore wind sector is leading efforts to tackle climate change, and is set to more than double in size in the next ten years. 11,000 people are already employed in skilled jobs, and this will grow over the next decade to 27,000

The Ørsted Skills Hub is part of Global Offshore Wind 2018 conference and exhibition , the world’s largest offshore wind event.
Students looking to learn about the UK’s world-leading offshore wind industry have a chance to meet with leading companies and hear first-hand from young industry employees about what working in offshore wind is really like, and how they too can look for a skilled job that makes a difference.
A new document, “Your Career in Offshore Wind” will be launched at the event, explaining how the industry works and how to take the right steps to enter the sector.
Over 150 companies are exhibiting at RenewableUK’s Global Offshore Wind event at Manchester Central on 19th-20th June, with 2,500 people attending. It is the world’s largest conference and exhibition focused on offshore wind; locating the Skills Hub within this larger event gives students the chance to meet face to face with the industry’s employers large and small.
The event is aimed at university or college students wanting to understand career options, or students thinking about A-level or college choices and wanting to understand options in offshore wind.
Thanks to sponsorship from Ørsted, students can attend the free Skills Hub on Wednesday 20th June. A programme of inspiring talks, exhibits and activities will take place across the day, with careers advisers on hand to advise people looking at job options.
