RenewableUK comments on Crown Estate Scotland proposals for new offshore wind seabed leasing

RenewableUK is welcoming today’s announcement by the Crown Estate Scotland that it proposes to lease new areas of seabed for the development of offshore wind farms. Unveiling proposals today, the Crown Estate Scotland has published a discussion document setting out its initial views on new leasing for offshore wind and seeking views from industry, communities, local authorities and other stakeholders.
Commenting on the announcement RenewableUK’s Executive Director Emma Pinchbeck said:
“Today’s announcement recognises the huge potential for offshore wind in Scotland, which can be the backbone of a of a clean, reliable and affordable energy system.
Scotland is already a world-leader in renewable energy and continuing to develop our offshore wind will bring billions of pounds of new investment into the Scottish economy and create thousands of skilled jobs.”
