RenewableUK welcomes development of Electricity Networks Sector Growth Plan

Commenting on the publication of the programme of work to inform the Electricity Networks Sector Growth Plan, which sets out steps to analyse the value of network investment and support the growth of the UK supply chain and strengthen domestic manufacturing capability, RenewableUK's Head of Supply Chain Ajai Ahluwalia said:

“As this report makes clear, network investment represents a once-in-a-century opportunity for economic growth and could add as much as £11 billion to our economy through to 2050. Not only will it bring down bills and strengthen our industrial base, it also has the potential to support an additional 130,000 jobs throughout the domestic supply chain.

“With demand for electricity across the UK set to double in the coming decades, boosting our capacity to manufacture key components and provide crucial services for grid development will be critical to our future energy security.”
