RenewableUK’s Director of Business Development steps up to join East of England Energy Group Board
29 October 2021 - RenewableUK press release
RenewableUK is pleased to announce that our Director of Business Development, Vicky Mant, has been elected to the Board of the East of England Energy Group (EEEGR), the regional energy sector trade association for Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire.
The appointment comes after a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by RenewableUK and EEEGR earlier this year committing both organisations to working closer together to promote renewable energy and maintain the UK’s global lead in clean technologies.
The east of England is a key location for renewables in the UK and RenewableUK’s database shows 410MW of onshore wind and 3.1GW of offshore wind currently in operation in the region and an additional pipeline of over 8GW of wind power projects under construction, consented or being planned. 10% of the UK’s current offshore wind workforce is based in the east of England, with 2,600 full time, direct and indirect jobs in growing hubs such as Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth.
RenewableUK’s Director of Business Development Vicky Mant said:
“I look forward to both sharing my expertise with and learning from the EEEGR board, members and wider region, whilst exploring how I can promote this important energy cluster internationally.”
“Close work with the regions has always been a big part of my business development strategy. East Anglia was one of my first ports of call when I joined RenewableUK in 2019. The number of renewable energy projects being built in the region, and the volume of local businesses working in the industry, demonstrate how important this region is to the UK’s energy transition.”
Gemma Head, Head of Skills and Company Secretary at EEEGR and member of the RenewableUK Shadow Board, said: “RenewableUK and EEEGR have a longstanding relationship which was consolidated by the signing of the memorandum of understanding earlier this year. With Vicky joining the EEEGR Board, this demonstrates the continuation of our relationship and ongoing commitment to supporting each other’s organisations.
We are delighted to have Vicky on board as she brings a wealth of experience and knowledge which will assist us greatly with driving EEEGR forward as we continue to grow in line with our manifesto and for the benefit of the energy sector within the region and beyond.”
Joining Vicky as new members of the EEEGR Board are Jennifer Cushion from Fern Communications and Andrew Holyland from Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult.
