22 June 2022 - RenewableUK press release

RenewableUK has appointed Jane Cooper as its new Director of Offshore Wind. Jane is currently Director of Regulatory and External Affairs at Ørsted and will take up the position at RenewableUK in September.

This is a new role at RenewableUK and Jane will lead a team delivering the industry’s Sector Deal and wider Offshore Wind Industry Council programme. Jane will provide strategic oversight and advice to the OWIC Board, working across the industry to ensure that we can match the Government's raised ambitions with action.

Jane has a proven track record in the industry and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by the sector to meet its targets for 2030 and beyond. Jane was closely involved in the development of the Offshore Wind Sector Deal agreed with the UK Government in 2019, and is currently serving on the Government’s Green Skills Delivery Group and the ECITB Board.

Jane holds an MSc from City University and is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer, having previously worked at Rolls Royce and Orange. She is passionate about diversity and inclusion, working as a mentor to ensure we create an open and welcoming industry. Jane has two teenage children.

Jane Cooper said:

“Offshore wind is at the heart of the energy transition as we look towards a cleaner, greener future. Delivering the Offshore Wind Sector Deal was a pivotal moment for the industry and I am really excited to be joining Dan and his fantastic team at RenewableUK to continue the work we in the industry started three years ago, as we step up to meet the new Government ambition”.

RenewableUK’s CEO Dan McGrail said:

"I am absolutely thrilled that Jane is joining RenewableUK at such a critical time for the industry. The Offshore Wind Sector Deal was a real turning point for the industry, and the ever-increasing ambition, which has risen from 30GW to 50GW by 2030, creates a renewed impetus to accelerate progress across skills, supply chain, grid and innovation. Jane has not only the deep know-how of the sector from her time at Ørsted, but has the vision and insight required to match the UK's ambition with bold action".
