Offshore wind industry welcomes clarity on supply chain plans to enhance UK job creation

07 July 2021 - Offshore Wind Industry Council media release

Commenting on the publication of the Supply Chain Plan Questionnaire and Guidance by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the Co-Chair of the Offshore Wind Industry Council and Vattenfall’s UK Country Manager Danielle Lane said:

“We welcome the guidance published today as it provides offshore wind developers with further clarity on the application process, the timetable and how supply chain plans will be monitored and assessed. The industry is working closely with the Government to maximise the amount of UK content in our offshore wind projects and has pledged to reach 60% by 2030.

“Today’s announcement of over 1,000 supply chain manufacturing jobs in the Humber and Newcastle-Upon Tyne demonstrates that the offshore wind sector is delivering tangible benefits to communities in parts of the UK which need new industrial opportunities. As we quadruple the UK’s offshore wind capacity over the course of this decade, we will create tens of thousands of high quality jobs in this sector by supplying innovative goods and services for projects here and around the world”.
