GB Energy’s Strategic Plan will boost jobs and investment in clean power

4 December 2025 - RenewableUK press release

Commenting on the publication of Great British Energy’s first Strategic Plan, RenewableUK’s Deputy Chief Executive Jane Cooper said:

“Great British Energy’s ambitious strategy to boost jobs and investment in the clean power industry over the next five years will ensure that more local communities feel the tangible, transformative benefits that the renewable energy sector can bring. With a longer term focus, Great British Energy is also choosing to invest in cutting-edge technologies in which the UK leads the world, including deep-water offshore wind.

“The industry has been clear that it wants Great British Energy to invest in projects which the market couldn’t bring forward on its own, and it’s good to see this happening in the plans they have to use public land for onshore wind.

“This strategy will build on the renewable energy sector’s achievements to date, with 55,000 people already working in the wind industry alone, onshore and offshore, and 2,000 supply chain companies spread across more than 70 parliamentary constituencies UK-wide. We're creating fresh opportunities for people to find work in the innovative clean technologies - including former oil and gas workers, armed forces veterans and people in coastal communities who are finding new careers in the wind industry. Some of the highest numbers of new jobs will be created in Scotland, the east of England and in Yorkshire and the Humber”.
