Clean Industry Bonus brings more offshore wind manufacturing opportunities throughout the UK
16 January 2026 - RenewableUK press release
Commenting on the Government’s announcement that its Clean Industry Bonus for offshore wind will bring £3.4 billion of further private investment in factories, supply chains and ports across the country, as a record amount of new offshore capacity was secured in the latest auction for new projects, RenewableUK’s Head of Supply Chain Ajai Ahluwalia said:
“The pipeline of new offshore wind farms confirmed by the Government opens up new opportunities for the UK to manufacture more turbine blades, towers, foundations, cables and other pieces of kit. We can, and should, secure the industrial benefits that this technology offers as well as the environmental ones. By focussing on these high-value components, and services such as those used in operations and maintenance, we could deliver an extra £25 billion to our economy over the next ten years.
“This will build on the 150 factories and 2,000 businesses already working in the UK‘s world-leading offshore wind sector, supplying projects here and exporting our cutting-edge goods and services around the world.
“Much of this new economic activity will be in and around our ports, which are being revitalised by our industry and by the Government. The sheer scale of the latest offshore turbines - the towers alone are up to 175 metres tall - means that they can only be manufactured and assembled on our larger quaysides, which are already becoming clusters for world-leading companies, creating high-quality well-paid jobs all around the UK”.
