Wind and aviation explained

5 June 2025 | 11:00 | Microsoft Teams webinar

Coexistence between wind energy and aviation stakeholders relies on technological innovation, effective collaboration, and clear regulatory guidance to balance the expansion of renewable energy with air safety and civilian and military requirements. Although aviation doesn’t affect every project, the impacts can be significant when it does — leading to high costs, delays, and complex technical challenges.

RenewableUK works with experts and key stakeholders to support projects to move forward whilst maintaining aviation safety and efficiency, helping the country reach its renewable energy targets. To explore this and answer your questions, we will be hosting a webinar at 11:00am on Thursday 5 June - where we will taking a closer look at:

  • Our work with Onward 2030 to deliver the commitments of the Scottish Government’s Onshore Wind Sector Deal.

  • Our targets for 2025 in this space, including key priorities after the Onshore Wind Taskforce Strategy is published.

  • An update on the work of the Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC) covering the current programmes.

  • An overview of the Aviation Impact Tool, which is funded by AIFCL and OWIC, and hosted by EnergyPulse and RenewableUK to assist UK wind farm developers in identifying potential aviation impacts on proposed development areas.
